All over the world (Presidents Cup) – The Presidents Cup is played between the United States and all non-European countries.

Bogey – Par is the number of strokes it should take a golfer to complete a hole or round of golf.  A golfer’s score is compared with the par score.  A score of 1-over par on any individual hole on a golf course. Golf holes are typically rated as par-3, par-4 or par-5, so making a bogey means:

  • Scoring 4 on a par-3 hole
  • Scoring 5 on a par-4 hole
  • Scoring 6 on a par-5 hole

Handicap – Refers to a number representing a golfer’s playing ability.  The lower a golfer’s handicap, the better the golfer plays.  For example, a +2 handicapper, golfs better than a +10 handicapper.

Jack – Is short for Jack Nicklaus, the founder of the Memorial Tournament.  He holds the record for the most major-championship titles with 18.

Melbourne – The host site for The 2011 Presidents Cup, which took place November 14-20, 2011.

Muirfield Village Golf Club –Founded by Jack Nicklaus and home to the Memorial Tournament, the Golf Club officially opened in 1974 in Dublin, OH.  Muirfield Village Golf Club will host The 2013 Presidents Cup.

PGA TOUR – The organization that operates the main professional men’s golf tours in the United States and North America.

Under-par – Par is the number of strokes it should take a golfer to complete a hole or round of golf.  A golfer’s score is compared with the par score.  If a course has a par of 72 and a golfer takes 70 strokes to complete the course, the golfer’s reported score is -2, or “2-under-par”.  Anything under-par is considered very good in golf.

USGA – national governing body of golf for the United States and Mexico.
